Samsung will be selling a variation of the Galaxy S4 smartphone that allows users to access internet speeds at double the normal speed accessed by the already launched S4 devices.

According to Samsung Electronics’ head of mobile business, J.K. Shin, the phone will be available to South Korea users in the next month.

Shin told Reuters the company is already in talks with several overseas carriers of the device although it declined to name them.

“We’ll be the first with the commercial launch of the advanced 4G version of the smartphone,” Shin said.

The new device is targeting the use of the LTE advanced 4G technologies under progress in various countries, especially China where three network operators are already in preparation to roll it out.

The phones, to be powered by Qualcomm chips, will use approximately a third of the time of conventional 4G devices uses to download from the internet.

Samsung is also trying reclaim lost ground after its shares continued to slip, having lost almost US$20 billion in the past week after Galaxy S4 sales slowed.

The company has refused to project sales for the coming quarter only insisting that the S4 was performing better than the S3.

“S4 sales remain strong. It’s selling far stronger than the (Galaxy) S III … and the new LTE-Advanced (4G) phone will be another addition to our high-end segment offerings that ensure healthy profit margins,” Shin said.
No official cost has been revealed, but it will be higher than the S4.
