Juwah elected chairman of Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation

Eugene Juwah, Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has been elected Chairman of the Council and Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO). The election was held at the organisation’s just concluded Annual Council Meeting held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

“We are delighted and honoured to be elected to this position, and we look forward to working with all members to continue to guide Management in its ICT4D efforts”, Juwah said.

Prior to his election, Juwah was the first Vice-Chairman of the CTO. The head of Nigerian telecoms sector’s regulatory body has about thirty years of experience in the IT and telecommunications sectors.

He was appointed in his current position at the NCC in July 2010, and under his leadership, NCC has introduced emergency communication services, mobile number portability, SIM card registrations and pursuing broadband access expansion in Nigeria.

Juwah is taking over from Juma Kandie, Director for Human Capital and Administration, Communications Authority of Kenya.
