Nigeria’s minister of communications technology Omobola Johnson has announced that from September all government ministries, agencies and departments (MDAs) at state and federal levels will carry out their activities from a single online platform.

Speaking at the Africa Domain Name System Forum, Johnson said the Nigerian government has directed all MDAs to transact most of their business online through a government portal.

She said this will make it easier for Nigerians outside Abuja or the state capitals to connect with government officials online, and they will no longer need to be physically present at government offices.

“This will [also] reduce corruption and help to decongest the cities as well as bring governance closer to the people,” the minister said.

She also said the process for getting Nigeria covered with broadband to make e-governance hitch-free is already underway.
