Tanzania’s Flyezee launches flight comparison site

Tanzania-based startup Flyezee.com has launched its online flight comparison website, bringing a free platform for personal flight research to the public in East Africa.

Flyezee.com allows passengers to compare prices and book flights across East Africa on the Coastal, Auric Air, Flightlink and Regional Air airlines, with further local airlines to be added to the platform over the year.

Speaking to HumanIPO, founders of Flyezee.com Matthew Bell and Bruce Hurd said the website makes air travel more accessible by aggregating real-time and correct information about flight options, and cutting out the need for costly travel agents.

“Flyezee.com is a tool for doing better personal research for flights! It allows you to compare the prices, flight times and availability of many local airlines at a time,” the founders said.

“Before Flyezee.com, you had to contact the airlines individually to find out if they flew certain routes and get their pricing, times and availability. If you didn’t know of any airlines, you were quite stuck. Alternatively you could go to a travel agent and pay them a booking fee to do the work for you.”

According to Bell and Hurd, Flyezee.com is the only flight comparison platform dedicated to East Africa, and provides information about the biggest amount of routes in East Africa currently available on line.

The platform is fully secure and the data provided on it accurate, given that the platform is directly integrated with the airlines’ systems, the founders said.

“Regarding payments, we integrate with a very trustworthy and secure payment platform called 3GDirectpay that handle all our payments securely,” the founders said.

“We integrate directly with all the airlines reservation systems which guarantees the accuracy of our data.

“And we ourselves are a company who are active on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. We encourage all of our customers to leave feedback for others about their experience with Flyezee.com. We plan for our customers to inspire others that we are a trustworthy place to book local flights.”

In an attempt to make the startup a homegrown Tanzanian success, the co-founders have pumped TZS300 million (USD$180,000) into setting up the business, and are in the process of hiring a Tanzanian team on the ground.

While currently launching largely in Tanzania, Flyezee.com has its sights set on expanding rapidly across East Africa to make air travel a real option for local travel.

“The plan for the next five years is to expand to other countries in East Africa and beyond, increasing transparency in flight prices across the region, with the hope of reducing flight prices and thus making flying an option for more people, opening up trade in more areas,” the co-founders said.
