Seedstars World to host events in 4 African countries

Global startup competition Seedstars World will be hosting four local events in Africa over the next four weeks, giving startups from Eastern and Southern Africa the opportunity to pitch for entry into the global event at the beginning of next year.

Four events have already taken place this year, the most recent of which occurred in Lagos, with local startup up Green Energy being awarded first prize.

“Seedstars World will hold its worldwide competition every year and grow exponentially to all the corners of the world and put all the fast growing startup scenes on the map! Indeed, our goal is to create THE network for quality entrepreneurs around the world and help entrepreneurs, accelerators/incubators, co-working spaces and investors to interact with one another,” said Alisee de Tonnac, chief executive officer (CEO) at Seedstars.

The next event will take place in Kigali, Rwanda, on Thursday, followed by additional events in Uganda, Kenya and South Africa on a weekly basis until mid-July.

The Rwandan event will take place at tech innovation hub kLab and will be judged by Seedstars scout Julien Berthomier and country manager of Kaymu Rwanda Yan Kwizera.

The winner of the global event will win an equity investment and gain exposure to venture capitalists (VC) and angel investors around the world.

Regional winners will receive regional as well as international media coverage as well as networking opportunities.
