VP commissions Ghana’s first digital banking centre

Ghana’s vice president (VP) Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has commissioned the country’s first digital banking centre in Accra, developed by Ecobank and providing 24-hour banking services to users.

The Ecobank Digital Centre is located in the Labone Estates in Accra, and speaking at the ceremony Amissah-Arthur asked other banks to replicate the technology with the goal of making banking more convenient and accessible to all Ghanaians.

He said the facility is impressive and commended the board, management and staff at Ecobank on the landmark feat.

“25 years of existence of the bank is an indication of pursuit of the founding fathers to bring banking to the people within the pan-African agenda,” he said.

He said he expected the bank to deliver to the people and extend the digital services to areas such as Adenta, Ashongman and Kasoa.
