All buildings in Nairobi will be required to have inbuilt communication termination services to aid in communication within the next six months, according to a directive from the county government.

Nairobi governor Dr Evans Kidero, who was speaking at the launch of the Multi-Services Access Nodes by Orange yesterday, said the planning act necessitated the inclusion of communication terminals in buildings before they are approved, just as with utilities such as water and electricity.

Older buildings have to comply within a six-month time period.

“We have allocated 25 per cent of the annual budget to improve communication connectivity and infrastructure,” said Kidero.

The project is expected to take three years.
