MultiChoice selects Clearleap to update video-on-demand platforms

South African pay-TV provider MultiChoice has selected Clearleap to accelerate its multi screen strategy and content management systems over IP and traditional networks.

“By leveraging the Clearleap platform, MultiChoice will be able to manage its entire library of premium live and on-demand video content, then distribute and monetise it across VOD [video-on-demand], web portals, apps and more,” Clearleap said in a statement.

The company said Multichoice would also make use of its flexible model, allowing the pay-TV provider to integrate with its already existing infrastructure and easily scale for multiscreen services.

“The shift to digital and OTT distribution is only going to accelerate, and by leveraging Clearleap’s technology we’re several steps ahead of the game. Knowing that our content will be quickly delivered to the right platforms in the right formats means we can focus on our core business and continue to excite our subscribers with a world of entertainment,”  said Gerdus Van Eeden, chief executive officer (CEO) of broadcast technology at MultiChoice.

“With the explosion of content and video-enabled devices, MultiChoice needed a platform that could meet consumer demand for ‘any screen’ viewing,” said Braxton Jarratt, CEO at Clearleap.

“Our platform is a future-proof investment that supports legacy STBs [set top box] as well as new devices, enabling operators and content owners to easily scale their operations, create new business models and increase their subscriber base. We recognise the multiscreen TV landscape is ever-evolving and complex to navigate.!
