Nokia has announced China has approved Microsoft’s purchase of its mobile business, with the deal set to be completed this month.

The phone maker said in a statement the deal had gained the approval of the Chinese authorities, who had not asked it to change its patent practices.

“Nokia and Microsoft have now received regulatory approvals from the People’s Republic of China, the European Commission, the US Department of Justice and numerous other jurisdictions,” Nokia said in a statement.

HumanIPO reported last year Microsoft would be acquiring Nokia’s devices division for US$7.4 billion, with Nokia describing it as “the best path forward for Nokia and its shareholders”.

The deal has been approved in numerous countries around the world, with South Africa’s Competition Tribunal approving the move in February.

Nokia repeated its statement of last month that it expected the Microsoft deal to close in April.
