Mahindra Comviva joins GlobalPlatform

Mobile financial technology provider Mahindra Comviva has joined GlobalPlatform, an organisation which standardises the management of applications on secure chip technology.

The mobility solutions provider will be an observer, taking a keen interest in the activities of the GlobalPlatform Advisory Council and the Mobile Task Force.

The group works to understand the business requirements of the secure mobile services ecosystem and aims to ensure an agreed and workable application management infrastructure is established.

“Mahindra Comviva firmly believes that there will be an augmented demand for adoption of technologies, like near field communication (NFC), that empower consumers to make payments with a simple tap through their mobile phones,” said Srinivas Nidugondi, senior vice president and head of mobile financial solutions at Mahindra Comviva.

“Our focus on innovation and the creation of a safe, secure and convenient environment to provide instant electronic transactions at any time, and from anywhere, has established our strong position in the mobile financial space.”

He said he was confident his company’s expertise ould offer value to GlobalPlatform’s work as it drives adoption of electronic transactions on mobile devices and reducing dependency on other factors, saying it was delighted to confirm its membership as it shares the same objectives and goals.

We look forward to its participation in the Mobile Task Force as we accelerate the establishment of a stable and interoperable mobile ecosystem.”
