Nailab’s hackathon set for Kisumu

The Kenyan lakeside town of Kisumu will host the Nailab’s next hackathon, geared towards bringing together tech and business developers to produce ideas that could help tackle the town’s perennial problems of unemployment, insecurity and health.

Speaking to HumanIPO Josephine Mwangi, the Nailab’s public relations and marketing manager, said the hackathon was organised in conjunction with the ICT Authority and the Lake Hub and will be held on November 29, 2013.

“From meeting the tech community we will be able to know their challenges whether it is internet, gadgets or relevant platforms after which we will report them to the ICT Authority,” said Mwangi, adding that more players were needed to provide gadgets.

After the hackathon, the Nailab will also provide follow-up to the winning participants, consisting of mentorship in addition to being included on their incubation platform, Ideas Africa, where they will interact with different people among them entrepreneurs.
