Kenya’s Airtel customers who top up with more than KSh50 have a chance to have their bills paid by the mobile network operator every week in a new promotion dubbed “Jaza Ushinde”.
The company said it will pay bills, including rent, shopping, fuel, electricity, airtime and water, totaling KSh10 million (approx. $115,470) in the 60 days that the promotion runs.
This is in addition to the free minutes and SMS text messages that the company will be offering to customers who top up with the same amount on a daily basis.
According to Airtel’s managing director Shivan Bhargava, the promotion is to reward customers for their “enormous support and loyalty”.
“We are aware that a majority of the people face immense financial challenges coming into the New Year after the festive season especially with schools fees needs taking a big portion of their finances as children return to school, leaving them will little cash to back up their other daily consumption needs,” he said.
“‘Jaza Ushinde’ is our way of offering our customers the much needed support and relief from these challenges by simply topping up and using their Airtel line in the normal way.”
The promotion comes days before the end of the ‘Shinda Karo’ promotion that closes on January 31, which has so far seen over 150 customers benefit from school fees of up to KSh100,000 (approximately $1,155) each..
