US$10 billion LTE revenue predicted by 2018

US$10 billion LTE revenue predicted by 2018

Source: Android Talk

Greater opportunities for independent Long-Term Evolution (LTE) networks are predicted as part of the estimated LTE compound annual growth rate of 43 percent for the next five years worldwide, says a freshly released report by 4G Market.

Mainly driven by operator services, revenues will rise from US$1.8 billion in 2013 to US$10 billion by 2018.

Other key contributors to global LTE growth are the role players in the sectors of managed services and system integration.

On the African front, Uganda’s telecommunication growth is predicted to rise to a peak of US$1 billion by 2017, according to global telecoms research leader Pyramid Research.

The country’s LTE launch is imminent as leading operators Smile and MTN compete to be the first to roll out services, reported HumanIPO.

Other African countries awaiting LTE launches in the near future are Egypt, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Tanzania.

South Africa saw an LTE rollout last year, although full area coverage is still in progress.

Further forecasts estimate Europe as the slowest LTE-progressing continent due to “stringent spectrum regulation policies”.

The Middle East is discussed as being one step ahead with the commercialisation of technology because of early technological activity from Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MOI).

According to the report, the implementation of inter-public land mobile network (PLMN) handovers is being weighed up by vendors as an alternative solution above roaming.

Among a list of other related topics, the report also tackles Radio Active Network (RAN) Sharing and Roaming, referring to the sharing of eNodeBs. This encompasses the operators accessing shared RAN with its own Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC).

The report, titled Public Safety LTE: A Global Assessment of Market Size, Technology, Vendor Trends and Spectrum Allocation 2013 – 2018 was released today (Wednesday, January 9) by 4G Market.

With the review, Market 4G aims to address relevant issues in detail regarding technology, market size, and key trends within the Public Safety LTE industry.

Vendor trends and roadmaps, available in the full report for sale online, provide an in-depth assessment of solution portfolios and roadmaps, advising major infrastructure or device vendors and system integrators.

Target audience groups include system integrators, public safety agencies and cellular network operators.

4G Market gathers firm data about the LTE market, publishing qualitative and quantitative results about major and minor telecom role players. 4G-Market.com is owned by Telecom Intelligence Company.
