Juliet Ehimuan Chiazor, Country Manager at Google Nigeria, won the 2012 Information Technology (IT) Personality of Year National Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA) after an anonymous online vote.

The awards were announced by the Nigerian Computer Society (NCS) and Chiazor was praised for her contribution with regards to international markets.

She was appointed as Nigerian Country Manager of Google in April, last year.

Joe Mucheru, Representative of Google Sub Saharan Africa, said: “Google sees great potential in the Nigerian market. We are excited to have Juliet Ehimuan bring her expertise and knowledge to help fulfil that potential.”

Ehimuan is qualified with a London Business School Executive MBA, a Cambridge Post Graduate degree in Computer Science and a Bachelors degree (1st class honours) in Computer Engineering attained at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Other recipients of awards are Chief Donatus Etibet for Best Software Entrepreneur of the Year 2012 and the Federal University of Technology of the Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON) National Software award for Tertiary Institutions.

The annual NITMA ceremony appeals to and invites top stakeholders and key decision makers of the Nigerian IT community in the private and public sectors with the acknowledgement of the achievers in the IT community of Nigeria.

The NCS has celebrated particular individuals and organisations that have been working with them to promote and appreciate excellence in IT, as the nation celebrates and honours the brightest and best of Nigeria’s IT community.

The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) is where Information Technology Professionals, Interest Groups and Stakeholders in Nigeria come together to work for the progress of Information Technology Science and Practice in Nigeria.
